Technequality participates in the European Week of Regions and Cities

How to make a more cohesive, smarter, greener and more secure EU and what are the challenges of the digital transformation?

October 2019, two researchers of the Technequality consortium, Marie-Christine Frégin and Melline Somers,  participated in several lab sessions during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels. In the youth lab, the Technequality scientists discussed with young adults and regional policy makers how a more cohesive, smarter, greener and more secure EU can be achieved. Young people learned that it is becoming increasingly important that they need to be ready to face constant changes in today’s societies and labour markets. Having a growth mindset is one of the most important things to be able to continuously acquire new skills. During the youth lab session, young reporters from the Youth Radio Radioimmaginaria broadcasted a summary of the discussions. During the digitilization lab, the Technequality scientists discussed together with policy makers as well as regional experts what the prospects and challenges are of the digital transformation. One of the important take away messages of the digitilization lab is that inclusive digital growth can be realised by fostering the dialogue on this matter in all age groups, sectors and stakeholders. The output of both labs will be used for the drafting of Operational Programmes for the funding period 2021-2017 for the European Social Fund Plus and the European Regional Development Fund.
